CPPF Nature Talk – Visitor Center Tour Every month, a lecture is held in association with the monthly meeting of Caspers Park Preservation Foundation (CPPF) volunteers. This month you can join a guided tour of Nature Center displays. Learn which local owls never hoot, distinguish animal visitors from permanent residents, and more! Astronomy Night For years, the stars have been considered heaven's guideposts. Observers looked to the night sky to predict everything from a change of weather to a change of leaders. Enjoy an evening outdoors, as you gaze into the heavens, learn the constellations, and peer through the telescopes of our volunteer astronomers. Tarantulas & Blacklighting4Bugs Get up close and personal with Tarantulas! We'll be on the lookout for sexually mature male tarantulas making their annual late summer search for females. Guest host Lee Shoemaker will also lure nocturnal insects with black-lights, which use an ultra-violet frequency spectrum these creatures find irresistible. (LEVEL: Moderate. "Character Counts!" Jamboree Visit The Conservancy's booth at the 13th annual "Character Counts!" Jamboree.
